Jazzoo at the Kansas City Zoo A round of applause to the nearly 5,000 guests, supporters, volunteers, restaurants and entertainers who made Jazzoo 2013 a marvelous success. Already thinking of next year’s event, mark your calendars for Friday, June 6, 2014.
Kansas City Zoo Please pardon our mess as we prepare for the Zoo’s biggest fundraiser of the year – Jazzoo. While over 200 volunteers ready the Zoo for the anticipated 5,000 Jazzoo guests, only Africa will open on Friday, June 7 and it will be closing at 2 p.m. On Friday, June 7, only the African section of the Zoo will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The remainder of the Zoo will be closed. Tiger Trail, Australia and KidZone that includes Polar Bear Passage, Tropics, Sea Lions and the Endangered Species Carousel, will be closed as the Jazzoo decorators will adorn the surroundings, restaurants prepare their yummy bites, and entertainment gets everything in tune. On Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Zoo guests will be treated to free tram rides to and from Africa, free African boat rides and free African Sky Safari rides. Additional Zoo Keeper chats will also add to the experiences in Africa on Friday. Due to Africa being the only section of the Zoo open, admission has been reduced to $3 for Zoological District residents (Jackson and Clay County); $6 for non-residents, and Friends of the Zoo (FOTZ) members are free. Jazzoo tickets are still available for the most penguin-riffic fundraising party in town on Friday, June 7 at www.kansascityzoo.org.
